Stephen Gilbride is the son of Bozenna Urbanowicz Gilbride, a Polish Catholic survivor of the Nazi purge of humans they deemed less human than themselves.  Stephen assisted his mother in researching and writing her story 'Waiting for Mama'.  Through the research done for the book, Stephen is well positioned to present this era of history to youth audiences.  With an emphasis on the historical events and how they directly impacted the real lives of residents in the Ukranian and Polish territories, the impact of the WWII era is portrayed.
